Cover changes as life does
Your needs change over time, and your policy may not have kept up. Pick where you are now.
Single or couple
If you are paying for extras you rarely use, or your income has changed, the policy you picked years ago may no longer fit. Hospital cover can also affect whether you pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge.
Worth asking your consultant
- Whether you use enough extras to justify them
- How your excess level affects your premium
- How the Medicare Levy Surcharge applies to your income
Starting a family
Pregnancy and birth cover usually comes with a 12-month waiting period, so the right time to check your policy is before you need it.
Worth asking your consultant
- Whether pregnancy and birth is included on your tier
- When a waiting period would end if you changed now
- How a newborn is added to your policy
Family with kids
Dental, orthodontics and physio tend to matter more with children on the policy, and limits are often shared across the family.
Worth asking your consultant
- Annual limits on dental and orthodontics
- The age dependants can stay on your policy
- Whether extras limits are per person or shared
Nearing retirement
Joint replacements, cataracts and heart care become more relevant over time. Some of these are only included on higher hospital tiers.
Worth asking your consultant
- Whether those treatments are on your current tier
- Waiting periods if you move to higher cover
- How ambulance cover works in your state
General information only. What applies to you depends on your fund and policy.
Why review your cover?
You know what you pay. Do you know what you're covered for?
Your premium is only part of the picture. The details underneath shape what you can claim, when you can use your cover and what you may still have to pay.
Easy to compare: Premium, Excess.
Easy to overlook:
- Exclusions: What isn't covered at all
- Waiting periods: How long before you can claim
- Restricted benefits: Covered, but only in part
- Annual limits: What you can claim each year
Does your cover still fit your life?
Your needs may have changed.
The policy you chose years ago may no longer cover the treatments that matter to you.
Your budget deserves a fresh look.
Check what you're paying for, what you use and the trade-offs of a lower premium.
Timing matters.
Adding cover can mean waiting periods. Review before you need treatment.
Know what you're paying for
We make the fine print make sense
Waiting periods. Restricted benefits. Annual limits. Your consultant explains what those details mean for your cover, before you decide whether to switch.
A health insurance policy guide open on a phone, with one clause highlighted
7.1 Waiting periods: Waiting periods may apply to new or increased cover. Check before claiming a higher benefit.
7.2 Restricted benefits: Some treatments may only receive a limited benefit. Additional costs may apply.

What this means for you
New cover can mean a wait.

Restricted is not fully covered.
Your consultant checks which treatments your policy restricts and what you could still have to pay.
Extras stop paying at the limit.
Your consultant checks the yearly limits on the extras you use, like dental and physio.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really free? What's the catch?
It costs nothing to enquire, and there is no obligation to switch or to buy anything. We are paid a fixed fee for each referral, which does not depend on whether you take out a policy.
Will someone call me?
Yes. After you verify your mobile, a consultant from a health insurance provider or broker calls to go through your options with you, so please use a number you can answer. If the timing is wrong, tell them and they will leave it there.
Why do I have to verify my mobile?
The code we text you confirms the number is yours. It keeps the service for real people and makes sure the call reaches you.
What if my fund isn't one of the logos?
You can still name it in the first step. Consultants can go through options from up to 30 Australian health funds, and the logos show some of them.
Will switching mean losing cover or waiting again?
Waiting periods may apply when you change cover, particularly if you move to a higher level. Your consultant can explain how that applies to you before you decide anything.
Is this site run by a health fund?
No. We are not a health fund, and we do not compare or sell policies ourselves. We pass your enquiry to a health insurance provider or broker. Any cover is provided by the fund you choose, so read that fund's policy information before you decide.
What happens to my details?
We pass them to health insurance providers or brokers so they can contact you about your enquiry, and handle them as our Privacy Policy sets out. It is linked at the bottom of every page.
